I didn't intend to rant about something so relatively trivial before, I thought I would restrain myself until I came across something particularly noteworthy, however, the following got on my nerves to such an extent I couldn't help myself...
Essentially, a woman, or should we say animal, has been to court to fight the fact she has to wear an electronic tag as part of her bail conditions. This woman, Natasha Hughes, has been previously convicted of assaulting another female and causing grievous bodily harm. Of course, one would think the Judge would quietly laugh at such a request, not before looking down his spectacles and replying with a curt 'no'. Alas, I forget: this is modern Britain.
So, what stunning piece of rhetoric did this budding advocate of criminal rights come up with? Well, she said the following: 'I didn't want to wear a tag because they are really bulky and embarrassing.' Oh my God - the powers of her persuasion! It seems in their blinkered efforts to keep us safe, the Police did not pay enough attention to the aesthetic qualities of the tag. Christ! This really gets on my nerves. Surely the conspicuous nature of the device, and her resulting embarrassment, actually serves as part of the punishment - it enables us all to see what kind of person she is - a savage. Far be it for the judicial system to get in the way of madam’s fashion.
And the result of all this: Ignorent Cow 1 - Common sense 0. Not to mention the fact that tax payer's money might as well have been poured down the drain; I could go on ad infinitum...
