The Apprentice... it's back!
A few minutes before the programme started, I was muttering things like: 'it's not going to be the same... they won't be able to capture the same atmosphere etc.' How wrong I was. Within a minute I was rapt - you could feel the excitement. Although initially I felt that the standard was not as high as the first series, (who can forget Syra, James and Paul!) I had to remind myself that it was not until after the first few episodes, last time, that the 'real' characters actually started to emerge.
May I offer you the following blunt assessment of the contestants (or 'candidates' as the BBC's website puts it - reminding us that these people are actually competing for a paid job in Sir Alan's company)...
Alexa Tilley: Bland, useless
Ansell Henry: Genuinely nice guy, will be good to see how he develops
Jo Cameron: Not 'working at a fast pace' as she puts it, just damn histrionic and insufferable
Ben Stanberry [now fired]: ineffectual and intrinsically weak - was right to go
Karen Bremner: Intelligent; not sure if she is the apprentice Sir Alan wants though
Mani Sandher: Again, nice guy - plus, he's clever (apparently has a BSc in Physics!)
Michelle Dewberry: A tart, inexperienced
Paul Tulip: I think he's one to watch
Nargis Ara: Didn't really stand out in episode one
Samuel Judah: Not sure at the moment
Ruth Badger: Fat and just too 'bitchy' to win
Syed Ahmed: Greasy, arrogant and a bullshitter - Sir Alan will sort him out
Sharon McAllister: Can't actually remember her - looks like a Halloween mask on the website
Tuan Le: Again, one to watch - seems quite competent
All in all though, one thing's for sure: I can't wait for next week's episode!

A great analysis, I'll be very surprised if Jo lasts long.
Soooo glad someone else thinks Sharon looks like a Halloween mask!!! Bit too long under the old sunlamp methinks!!! Think she should tell the truth about her age!!! Ruth to win for me - she is fab.
